What does handcrafted mean?
All of our soaps are made by my hands in small batches. I use the "cold process method" meaning I do not cook or heat the mixture to speed up the saponification process.
What is saponification?
It is the chemical reaction that occurs between oils and a strong alkaline (I use sodium hydroxide, also called lye). There are two products that result in this process: soap and glycerin. There is no lye left in the soap after 48 hours. To allow for a better, harder bar, I cure it for 5 weeks.
What is glycerin?
Glycerin is a clear, colorless, syrupy liquid that occurs extensively in nature and is naturally found in the cells of plants, animals and humans. The natural glycerin in our soap is a humectant, which means: "promotes retention of moisture". Large soap manufacturers remove glycerin from their soap by distillation because it is more profitable sold separately.
Raw goat milk contains alpha hydroxy acids including: Lactic Acid, Caprylic Acid and Glycolic Acid. These gently cleanse and exfoliate improving your skin texture and helping to maintain smooth clear skin while minimizing wrinkles & lines. Goat milk soap is very skin friendly allowing you to cleanse and moisturize your skin at the same time, making it perfect for dry skin types as well as soothing for psoriasis and eczema sufferers.
We use only fresh goat milk from the girls on our farm.
For best results: lather & massage, lightly rinse & gently dry. To increase the life of your bar, allow to dry completely between uses. Discontinue use if irritation continues. Keep out of reach of children.
